We have had a fair number of responses, but not enough to make this idea work. We'll try to get more interest soon and will email all who have signed up with updates.
Yes! You read that right, you could brew your own batch of beer from just 60p per pint!
Many people are interested in brewing their own beer, only to be put off by the poor quality of canned kits.
The obvious solution to this is to brew your own all-grain beer from scratch and this way it is possible to make beer that is just as good as your favourite pub beer.
There are now mail order shops that supply the same ingredients as commercial breweries use, enabling homebrewers to replicate professional beers. Costs range from £20 for a 23L English Bitter to £50 and up for 19L of super hoppy IPA
But brewing is time-consuming. It takes the best part of a day to mash the grains, boil the hops and chill to room temperature. Not to mention cleaning everything afterwards.
And the equipment needed to do this is expensive and bulky. Then there's water chemistry to worry about and what if things go wrong?
That's where we come in!
We can do all the hard work for you: buying the ingredients, treating the water, mashing the grains, boiling the hops and chilling the wort. All you need to do is add the yeast and keep at the right temperature for a few days before packaging (in bottles, kegs, or bag in box - ready to connect to your home handpump).
We are pleased to announce a new type of homebrew club. One where we supply members with fresh wort and yeast. All you need to do is ferment, package and enjoy!
How does it work?
How much will it cost?
You'd expect to pay more for prepared wort than for the grain kits.
However, as we brew in (small!) commercial sized batches we can offer professional quality wort for little more than the mail order grain kits.
We think 60p per pint is a realistic starting point. American hops are expensive (£8.70 for 100g on the most popular site) and a hoppy IPA might contain about 10g per pint, meaning that hops alone cost 87p. By buying in bulk we can keep this extra cost down. So an IPA might cost little more than £1 a pint!
